The ScotSpirit scheme is now open for applications, allowing our unpaid carers to take a well-deserved short break, thanks to funding from the Scottish Government. The breaks are available for a 2–3-night stay within Scotland, contributing the cost of a hotel, campsite or bed and breakfast. If you would prefer a shorter break, day passes and tickets to Scottish tourist attractions are also available.

The scheme recognises that the pandemic has been especially difficult for carers, facing long periods of isolation without their usual support services.

Who can apply?

Any unpaid carer within West Lothian can apply for the scheme through us. Please note that to apply you must be registered to Carers of West Lothian. You can register by filling out our referral form or contacting us on 01506 448000.

Applications are also open to our Young Carers! We ask that carers under the age of 16 receive help from a parent or guardian when filling out the application.

The deadline for applying is the 31st of March.

Our application form can be printed off and filled in or call 01506 448000 to apply.

Where can I visit?

Providing there is availability, you can visit any local authority within Scotland. If you have a specific location in mind, flexibility in your dates will help us match you with your desired location. However, we will always try our best to provide you with your ideal break.

If you’re not sure where you would like to visit, then please provide us with your ideal timescales and an idea of activities you may enjoy.

When will I hear back about my application?

You should hear if your application has been successful by the end of April 2022. However, depending on demand, it may take longer than this to confirm your booking. Please be patient and we will inform you ASAP.
