To celebrate Carers Week, we’re introducing some of our fantastic volunteers that help keep CoWL running! Today we’re meeting Linsey! Linsey is a long term volunteer for Carers of West Lothian, and actually works for us now! However on the side Linsey still keeps up with her volunteering.
How long have you volunteered with CoWL?
Off and on for over 15 years.
What does a session of volunteering look like for you?
I would normally pick young carers up and then take them home after the group. Over the years I took part in the groups and also prepared the snacks/dinners and tidied up the dishes.
What do you enjoy most about volunteering?
I enjoy seeing how much fun the young carers have in the groups. On week 1 they are usually a little quiet but by the last week they are chatting away and having the best time.
What would you say to someone interested in volunteering?
It is such a rewarding way to volunteer. Seeing the difference in the young carers from beginning to end is such a boost and I love it.
If you would like to become a volunteer for Carers of West Lothian, please get in touch! We have a wide range of opportunities available, and can find anything to fit your skillset.
