Pontins Break

A group of carers and their partners set off on a well deserved break to Pontins in Blackpool. The group had a great week and enjoyed a surprise visit by HRH Princess Anne who took time to speak to carers and their partners. Many new friendships were forged and one carer said "I would go back tomorrow if you let me".

Hopetoun House Visit

On Wednesday the 11th of June a group of carers set off for a day trip to Hopetoun House. The staff were very welcoming and helped everyone to enjoy their day. Some people took advantage, while the weather was dry, to have a walk around the well kept gardens. After a bite of lunch in the cafe it was time to explore the house. Some brave people walked to the top of the tower and were treated to a stunning view across the grounds and out towards the Forth Bridges. Having managed to avoid the heavy showers everyone agreed that it had been a good day.

Carers Coffee Morning

Carers of West Lothian held it's first ever Coffee Morning in St Mary's Church Hall, Bathgate on Friday the 13th of June 08. We received a very generous donation of mini steak and gravy pies, sausage rolls and a variety of mixed scones from the Boghall Butcher as well as a selection of sticky buns and cakes from Jim McIlwraith, Baker. Annie Philpot (Wilma's mum) made fresh pancakes on a griddle which disappeared like hot cakes! There were free body health checks, smoothies and fruit kebabs (Health Improvement Team) as well as representatives from Pension Service and Carers Benefits giving advice on benefits. Advice on complimentary therapies and hand massage was provided by Jane Bruce. The craft corner for the children and face-painting were a huge success as you can see from the photos. Watch this space for details of next years coffee morning.

Torphichen Gala Day

For our final event during Carers Week we were invited to attend the centenary Gala Day in Torphichen. Connie, Xanthe, Jim and Annmarie set up a stall on a very windy but sunny day. Lucky Lollies, Name the Dog (Well done Bronwyn, the winner) and Guess the Sweets in the jar were among the attractions. Thank you to everyone who came over to chat.
